The wait is over.
The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI), the official distributor of Chevrolet in the country, officially launched the 2022 Corvette C8 Stingray today, staying true to their announcement last year. That's right, no need to order from gray market dealerships anymore if you want to own Chevy's new mid-engined sports car.
As mentioned in our previous article, the Philippine-spec 2022 Corvette Stingray comes in the range-topping 3LT trim. Interestingly, the Chevrolet Philippines also fitted the local units with the Z51 Performance Package. With that, TCCCI ticked nearly all the options available. But what does the 3LT trim and the Z51 Performance Package add?
The 3LT is essentially the range-topping variant of the Corvette Stingray in North America. Inside, it comes with high-quality material such as hand-wrapped leather all around. The Corvette is also equipped with the GT2 bucket seats that have a memory function. In front of the driver sits a 12-inch digital instrument cluster with a heads-up display (HUD). Providing entertainment is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto paired with a 14-speaker Bose audio system.
As for the Z51 Performance Package, it helps Chevy's mid-engine sports car put the power down and handle better. At the heart of the C8 Corvette is a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8. It produces 474 PS with 613 Nm of torque and is paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. With the performance pack, the Corvette C8 also comes with larger disc brakes, a Magnaride Suspension system, performance exhaust, performance traction management, and an e-LSD come standard on the sports car.
Aside from better handling, the Z51 Performance pack also makes the Corvette look more aggressive as well thanks to the exclusive Z51 rear spoiler and front splitter. Five-spoke wheels measuring 19-inch up front and 20-inch at the rear are also fitted (pictured below and in main). To make driving around the country easier, Corvette units from Chevrolet Philippines are fitted with a front lift system that approximately raises the ground clearance by 40mm (standard ground clearance is 135mm).
Chevrolet Philippines is offering the mid-engine sports car for PHP 9,915,888 and is available in 5 colors; Arctic White, Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic, Hypersonic Gray Metallic, Silver Flare Metallic, and Torch Red.
