LORD, OPEN THE KING OF ENGLAND'S EYES!
-----------
William Tyndale (1494–1536) risked his whole life para gawing accessible ang Bible sa mas maraming tao. Ang passion niya na 'to ang nagtulak sa kanya para i-translate ang Bible into English, the common language of the people.

A very noble task, tama ba? But NOT during his time.

Because of that, William faced opposition. Kailangan niyang magtago from time to time while finishing his goal: isang Bible na mababasa at maiintindihan ng lahat.

He recognized the need for a Bible na kayang intindihin ng pangkaraniwang tao. May isang tagpo when he confronted the ignorance of the religious leaders, sinabihan niya silang gagawin niyang posible para sa lahat, hanggang sa batang magsasaka, na unawain ang Salita ng Diyos.

"...I will cause a boy that driveth the plow shall know more of the Scriptures than thou dost."

He was considered the enemy of the Catholic Church. Yet, he managed to escape with printed copies of Bible. The religious authorities of his time did their best to stop William.

NO. (When the world gives you lemon, make a lemonade!)

Sa mga sumunod na panahon, William became one of the "most wanted" sa bansa nila. Both religious and political authority hina-hunting siya! Sa tulong ng mga kaibigan niya, nagawa niyang magtago while improving his translation of the New Testament. Also, sinimulan niya na ring isalin sa English ang Old Testament.

Yet just like Jesus, he was betrayed by a friend. Isang tao na tinulungan niya. Siya ay nahuli, nakulong and was condemned by the authorities as heretic.

In October 6, 1536, he was brought to the town square para sunugin nang buhay as death penalty. Binigyan siya ng chance to recant or iwaksi lahat ng ginawa at belief niya. He refused, at dahil sa pagtanggi niya, tinuloy nila ang execution.

His last prayer was: "Lord, open the King of England's eyes!"

The fire burned his body---but NOT his burning desire for people to know more about God through the Bible.

And God answered his prayer. They used the translation made by William Tyndale as basis for creating the Bible sa English language. That was 1539, three years after mamatay ni William. God opened the eyes of the king.

Pero hindi pa tapos ang Diyos. Later on, King James VI nominated the best scholars of his time to create another English translation of the Bible. And after few more years, King James Version (KJV) was published. At ang ginamit nilang basis? Ang translation ni William. The year was 1611. God did open the eyes of the king. Another king.

And the rest is history. More and more English Bible translations were made. And God is still opening the eyes of people through His Word na kaya nang basahin at intindihin ng lahat, mula sa mga nasa taas hanggang sa mga nasa baba---yes, hanggang sa mga batang magsasaka.

The Bible is not only God-breathed, it was also baptized by the blood of the martyrs. Countless people laid down their lives para convenient sa'tin ngayon na mabasa ang Bible. Think about that the next time you'll read your Bible.

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Romans 8:31

"...The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."
James 5:16
