It took some time, but Honda's newest turbocharged sedan is now in the country.
After making its regional debut in Thailand last August, Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) has officially launched the 2022 Civic. Now on its 11th generation, the four-door sedan gets a sleek new look inside and out, upgraded technologies, a more powerful turbo VTEC engine, and additional safety features across the range including Honda Sensing.

Much like the all-new Accord, the Civic adopts the brand's latest design language which sees the sedan getting a more mature exterior. Instead of a fastback-like design, the 11th generation model follows a more sedan-like shape.

Beyond its aesthetics, it gets a new pair of headlights, a redesigned front bumper with a dual-port grille design, a distinct beltline that runs the entire length of the car, new LED taillights, revised rear reflectors, and LED foglights. Size-wise, the all-new Civic measures 4678mm long, 1802mm wide, and 1415mm tall. It also has a 2735mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 134mm.

LED headlights are available as standard on the RS, along with 18-inch matte black alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40/ZR18 tires. The mid-grade V also comes with LED headlights while the and entry-level S version only gets projector halogens. When it comes to wheels and tires, the mid-grade Civic gets 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/50/R17 tires, while the base model S rolls on 16-inch alloys with 215/55/R16 tires.
Like the exterior, Honda was also busy changing up the Civic's interior. It now adopts the brand's “Simplicity and Something” design concept that features a minimalist cabin. The result is an interior that is less cluttered with physical buttons, as well as aircon vents that are hidden behind the unique dashboard panel.

Gone is the touch-sensitive panel for the climate control system for the 2022 Honda Civic. Replacing it are three new knobs that can control the fan speed, temperature, and other HVAC settings. The RS benefits from a dual-zone system while the V and S only come with a single-zone system.
Infotainment inside the all-new Civic comes in the form of a touchscreen media system. The top-spec RS comes with a 9-inch display while the V and S versions only come with the smaller 7-inch unit. Despite the difference in screen size, all variants come with AM/FM radio, USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A 12-speaker Bose sound system is exclusively available in the top-of-the-line RS. Meanwhile, the V and S variants come with 8 or 4 speakers, respectively.

Other available features available inside the 2022 Civic include leather seats (fabric on lesser variants), power-adjustable driver's seat (RS exclusive), 60:40 split-folding rear seats, 10.2-inch digital instrument panel (7-inch for the V and S), ambient lighting, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a wireless smartphone charger.

Powering all Civic variants is an improved 1.5-liter turbocharged VTEC inline-four. It now makes 178 PS at 6000 rpm along with 240 Nm of torque at 1700 – 4500 rpm. Compared to the previous generation, the upgraded engine now makes 5 additional PS and 20 more Nm of pulling torque. As before, the Civic is only mated to an Earth Dreams CVT.

When it comes to safety, all models of the Civic are equipped with the following; anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, multi-view reverse camera, dual and side airbags (extra curtain airbags for the RS), and speed-sensing door locks.

For the first time, the Civic is now available with Honda Sensing. With it, the 11th generation sedan now comes with intelligent safety systems. These include adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, collision mitigation braking system, lane keep assist system, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, auto high beam, and lead car departure notification.
Available colors for the 2022 Honda Civic include; Ignite Red Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Morning Mist Blue Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl (extra PHP 20,000).
