First, uninstall completely IDM which you think is causing the issue with your laptop. (Where did you get your IDM installer/setup file? Directly from IDM site?)
Redownload original IDM installer/setup file from IDM website, try using the trial version and check what happens. If the problem still persists, then the problem may be from your system specs (hardware) or some other installed programs (software) on your laptop.
