Viral Ballot Missing Robredo's Name 'Deliberately Edited': Comelec

The viral photo alleging that Vice President Leni Robredo's name was missing from a ballot in New Zealand was "deliberately edited", the Comelec's Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) said Monday.

The ballot where Robredo's name and number was missing was supposedly sent by mail, based on the social posts.

"The Office for Overseas Voting confirms that the photo showing an official ballot received by an overseas voter in New Zealand has been deliberately edited to make it appear that VP Robredo's name is missing from the list of presidential candidates," the office said in a statement.

The OFOV said it was closely coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in New Zealand to identify the persons behind the edited photo for spreading it on social media.

The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand previously urged Filipino voters there to return ballots with missing entries so that they can be verified.

The Comelec will also discuss their plan of action over the incident on Tuesday, said Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia.

Minsan meron din talagang mga trolls na gumagawa ng ganyan para lang mabahiran ang proseso at resulta ng eleksiyon, not necessarily na galing yan sa alin man sa mga kampo ng mga Presidentiables.
