7 Simple Tips To Keep Your Touchscreen Safe

Taking-Care-of-Your-Touch-Screen.jpg

In the past year we have witnessed out phones getting exponentially bigger – and the reason for that was primarily our quest for bigger screens. And as the screens are getting bigger and bigger to accommodate our entertainment needs, more and more attention should be ρáíd to the proper phone upkeep.

Here, we’ll give you a few tips on how to take good care of your smartphone’s touchscreen.

Be Gentle
This might seem like a no-brainer, but quite often we may let this simple tip out of sight. Remember that your phone is a complex device, and cartoonishly banging it against the table if it’s being slow will not solve any problems – but rather create new ones. Another example of mistreating your phone’s screen is pressing too hard into it when playing an exciting mobile game or sending a heated message to your boss. These things may seem small, but consistent mistreatment of your phone, even when subtle, can result in some unpleasant changes over time.

Use a Screen Protector
Another “d-uh” tip of the day is to use a screen protector. Once again it’s a small, effective and yet, often ignored, precaution. Choose the screen protector depending on what uses you intend for your device. If you know that you will not be able to watch yourself to not leave it next to water or occasionally dropping it on the floor – it may be wise to invest in a shockproof and waterproof screen protector. Luckily, there is no shortage of protective cases on the market and you will easily find what you need for your phone model.

Wash Your Hands
Modern touchscreens are simply great in the way they can react to the slightest movement of the finger and follow your every command. Unfortunately, this, in turn, makes them sensitive to grease, dust particles, water drops and any other substances that you may not even notice. We often have to grab our phone in a hurry, when snacking on pizza or after a swim at the beach. However, taking the extra minute to wipe your hands will result in significantly increased lifespan of your device.

Avoid Direct Sunlight
As much as you may love sunshine, your smartphone’s touchscreen does not. Lengthy exposures to direct sunlight can cause damage to the display panel and make your beautiful screen less of a joy to operate. So try to stay away from hours of texting in the sun or make sure your phone has a sun-protective casing.

Don’t let it Idle
Leaving your touchscreen to idle for lengthy periods of time without deactivating the display may cause “a condition” that is often referred to as “screen burn-in”, “image burn-in” or “ghost image” and can be best described as the discoloration of certain areas of the screen.

In order to make sure that this does not happen to you, set the period of time after which the lock screen should turn off. You can do this through the Lock Screen settings on your smartphone or by activating screen timeout.

Use The Right Cleaning Tools
We’ve already talked in detail on how to clean your smartphone in You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now., however, one touchscreen-specific moment is worth mentioning. When cleaning your screen, try to avoid using just about anything you find nearby (a paper towel, a sock or your cat’s tail). Most of these materials can cause abrasions on the screen and the best thing to do is keep a microfiber cloth handy. Use distilled water and rib gently – and make sure you give your phone enough time to dry off.

Don’t Place It Too Closely To Electric Devices
When placed close to an electric device, that is plugged in and is conducting electricity, a sudden surge in electrostatic discharge may harm your touchscreen. And even though this is not a hard-and-fast rule, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
