Sad to know it's here, though it's expected. But well and good we detected it. Detection is the first step. Containing the spread of this variant is next. That's always the thing we were doing from the many "variants" that infected us here in the Philippines. We could only try....as nature always finds it's way - so to speak.
Mutations, and spreading of the dominating variants is inevitable and continuous,.That is why we monitor its behavior around the world. But at this time, it's still COVID-19 via SARS-CoV2. It's the same threat whether it's infection rates are higher. or not. Our method of defence is also the same.
Best is just maintain the effective means we know of avoiding it.
...Lockdowns are only necessasry when infection rates drastically increase over an interval of time - a basic protocol.
