Newly retired Philippine National Police chief Guillermo Eleazar on Monday filed his candidacy for senator in the 2022 elections, according to a tweet by GMA News' Joseph Morong.
Eleazar will run under Partido Reporma as a substitute for PWD advocate Paolo Capino, who withdrew from the senatorial race last week.
Eleazar, who retired from the police force last Friday, filed his candidacy on the last day of substitution period for next year's elections.
In a press conference in Pampanga on Sunday, Eleazar said his legislative agenda would focus on “peace and order in relation to social reforms.”
