In the game, Franklin Clinton is a gangster who works for a corrupt car salesman. He first met Michael when he tried to s†éál the salesman's son's car. After learning that his wife is having an affair with the tennis coach, Michael and Franklin decide to go after the coach's mansion.
In 2004, Trevor Philips, Michael Townley, and Brad Snider tried to rob a bank in Ludendorff, North Dakota. Unfortunately, the first suspect was presumed dead. Almost a decade later, Michael lives in Los Santos with his family under the alias Michael De Santa. He had agreed to stay hidden with FBI agent Dave Norton

Martin Madrazo, the owner of the mansion, demands compensation. After going back to crime to try and collect the money, Michael decides to recruit Franklin as his accomplice. They then s†éál from a jewelry store to pay off their debt. Meanwhile, Trevor, who lives in a poor area of Los Santos, learns that the heist was carried out by Michael. He initially thought that the First Industrial Bank killed him.
In 2008, the development of Grand Theft Auto V began at the company's studio in North America. The team was composed of over 1,000 individuals, including members of the company's core team and the staff from its other studios. The RAGE engine used by the company was also updated to improve its rendering capabilities
