1. Talk to someone
When a relationship ends it’s natural to have a lot of questions about love. Sometimes you even question yourself and the role you played in whatever led to the break-up. It’s important to speak to a close friend or a family member who will help you answer some of the questions you might have. They may also cheer you up.

2. Accept that it’s over and break all ties
The hardest thing to do in a break-up is accepting that it’s over. But you must do it. Cut all communication with your ex – no calls, SMSes or social media messages. Don’t stalk him or her on social networks – it will only make the break up harder.

3. Surround yourself with people who love you
When you’re in a relationship it’s easy to focus on your significant other and forget about all the other people who love and care about you - your friends, family and colleagues. When you’re going through a break-up, you must remember that your ex is not the only person who loved you.
4. Spend time with yourself
Being single isn’t the negative thing that many people make it out to be. It’s a great time to focus on yourself and get to know yourself a little better. Get a hobby, join a dance class or get a gym membership. You will feel good about yourself, and you’ll know exactly what you want from your next relationship.
5. Keep your heart and mind open for future relationships
You may not realise it at first, but after some time you’ll learn that your mother was not lying when she said: “There’s plenty other fish in the sea”. When you’re feeling ready, start dating again. It’s easy to think that your ex was the greatest person ever, but the reality is – you can and you will find someone better.
