Enjoy this while this last. The next update will bring HARDCODED OTA update parameters that you can no longer stop nor workaround. It will also bring hashed passwords, so they are no longer in plain view, and an updated root password that is hardcoded.

This is the problem when things like these leak and get out of hand. Leaks like these drive the ever vigilant developers of this device to clamp down more on locking the device to prevent things like this when they get wind of it. This is the problem when a device is still in active development.

The consequence of a move such as this from the developers will mean you can only hope for a fix for issues you experience in the future at the cost of the freedom to use the device as you please. Because at the end of the day, they still hold the source code for this device, to do with it as they see fit.

This will be another DH-725 in the making, and will be our undoing for not being responsible with knowledge like this. I'm not against exposing device access, if it were the case that the device has ceased to be in active code development.

You can continue to use the device as it is now without fear of the upcoming update if you've made the changes, and can even survive a factory reset under certain conditions. But it will no longer receive improvements and/or bug fixes in future releases.
