Objective: To explore and understand the stages of attempted, frustrated, and consummated arson through written scenarios.
Instructions:
Read each scenario carefully.
Identify the stage of arson: Determine whether the scenario describes an attempted, frustrated, or consummated stage of arson.
Explain your reasoning: Write a brief explanation of why you believe the scenario corresponds to the identified stage of arson.
Write your answer in a one whole sheet of yellow pad

Scenarios:
Scenario 1:
Sarah plans to set fire to an abandoned factory in her neighborhood as an act of rebellion. She sneaks into the factory at night and attempts to ignite the gasoline-soaked debris she arranged earlier. Despite several attempts, the dampness of the debris prevents the fire from catching, leaving Sarah frustrated and unable to fulfill her plan.

Scenario 2:
Jake, fueled by anger after a dispute with his landlord, gathers gasoline and matches with the intention of setting fire to his landlord's property. However, just as he is about to ignite the fire, he hears approaching footsteps and quickly hides the materials. Jake's attempt to commit arson is thwarted, and he is later arrested by the authorities.

Scenario 3:
Michael, a disgruntled employee, decides to seek revenge on his former workplace by setting fire to the office building. Under the cover of darkness, he successfully ignites multiple fires using incendiary devices, causing extensive damage to the building and neighboring properties before the fire is eventually extinguished by firefighters.

Scenario 1:
Stage of Arson: Attempted Arson
Explanation: In this scenario, Sarah's actions correspond to the attempted stage of arson. She had the intention to set fire to the abandoned factory, made preparations by arranging gasoline-soaked debris, and attempted to ignite the fire. However, due to the dampness of the debris, her efforts were unsuccessful, leading to frustration and the inability to carry out the arson successfully.

Scenario 2:
Stage of Arson: Frustrated Arson
Explanation: Jake's actions align with the frustrated stage of arson. He had the intent to set fire to his landlord's property, gathered the necessary materials, and was on the brink of igniting the fire when he was interrupted by approaching footsteps. His plan was thwarted, and he had to abandon the attempt, leading to frustration. Jake's arrest by the authorities further solidifies the classification of this scenario as frustrated arson.

Scenario 3:
Stage of Arson: Consummated Arson
Explanation: Michael's actions exemplify consummated arson in this scenario. As a disgruntled employee seeking revenge, he successfully ignited multiple fires using incendiary devices in the office building, causing extensive damage to the property and neighboring buildings. The fire was eventually extinguished by firefighters, but Michael had already achieved his goal of causing significant harm through the successful execution of the arson plan.
