Hello! I understand your concern about not wanting to format your USB drive as it contains important work backups. Here are some steps you can try to recover the data from your corrupted USB drive without formatting it:

1. Use a Different USB Port or Computer: Sometimes, the issue may lie with the USB port or the computer itself. Try connecting the USB drive to a different port or another computer to see if it is recognized.

2. Check Disk Management: In Windows, you can check Disk Management to see if the USB drive is recognized but not assigned a drive letter. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer," select "Manage," then go to "Disk Management." If your USB drive appears here, you may be able to assign a drive letter to access the files.

3. Use Data Recovery Software: There are various data recovery tools available online that can help you retrieve data from a corrupted USB drive. Programs like Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, or TestDisk are popular choices. Install one of these tools on your computer and follow the instructions to recover your files.

4. Command Prompt: You can also try using Command Prompt to recover data from a corrupted USB drive. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and use commands like CHKDSK to scan and fix errors on the drive.

5. Professional Data Recovery Services: If the data on your USB drive is extremely valuable and you're unable to recover it using software tools, you may consider seeking help from professional data recovery services. They have specialized tools and expertise to recover data from severely damaged storage devices.

Remember to stop using the USB drive to prevent further data loss or damage. It's always a good practice to regularly back up your important files to prevent such situations in the future.
