PLATO'S POLITICS

Another overarching detail that points the Bible being platonic is Plato's politics described in The Republic. Plato's Ideal form of government is Theocracy. This goverment is ran by philosophers and theologians. He believes that the commoners should only be allowed to consume prescribed literature.
Also, in The Republic, Plato also describes a ruling class who are allowed - or more accurately - prescribed to commit the "Noble Lie", which is a myth propagated by the elites to maintain social harmony. He actually described this as a "sheep and shepherd" dynamic. (Keep in mind, lying is considered an offense punishable by death for commoners.) Perhaps, he might actually be alluring to this system when he wrote the "Allegory of the Cave".
Do I even need to mention who else believes in the same kind of ideal governance? who prescribes the holy books to be the center of it's laws? Which inevitably be a system where clergymen, theologians, will be the sole interpreter of "what should be". Very platonic indeed.

SECOND DAY

Screenshot_20230802_070834_Chrome.jpg

And God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

Timaeus: The air, which was lighter and warmer than the earth and seas, but not as light or hot as the tenuous realm of fiery aether, formed an intermediate zone between the earth and upper skies.

THIRD DAY

Separation of earth and seas — Anaximander, Heraclitus, ….

(Based from the previous, as with separation of the sky)

Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. (Gen 1:11-13)

Spontaneous generation of plants — Empêdocles, Archelaus, Democritus, …
Plants are not “living souls” like animals — Zeno
Plants emerge before the sun is formed –– Empêdocles
Classifications of plants (domestic and wild) — Plato, …

Empêdocles: that trees were the first animals to grow up from the earth, before the sun was unfolded around it and before night and day were separated… They grow by being raised out by the heat in the earth, so that they are parts of the earth just as embryos in the abdomen are part of the womb. (Aetius 5.26.4)

Interesting na platonic pala means based or alike sa thinking ni Plato (Plato-nic)
Oo medyo confusing kasi colloquially understood na meaning nito ay "platonic love" which is shortened into platonic. Pero platonic love is just one of his philosophies.. of course he never called it that way.
