Sorrows Of A Lingering Heart
In my existence, profound sorrow takes hold,
No brightness seems potent enough to break the fold.
I wrestle with each day, trying to carry through,
But my weary heart finds there's not much left to do.
The torment lingers each morning when I rise,
My slumber painted with grief catching me by surprise.
Just when I sense some healing has begun,
The pain resurfaces and once again, I'm undone.
My friends aim to lift my spirits, oh so kind,
Yet nothing succeeds, no matter what solaces we find.
My melancholy is the sole ruling entity,
All I can do is seek to ease its intensity.
I hope, despite all, there will come a day,
When my shroud of sorrow will finally drift away.
